RUSTON -- The Louisiana Tech Bulldog Basketball Banquet set for Tuesday, April 28, has now had a change of venue from the Thomas Assembly Center to Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La.
The banquet will feature three guest speakers beginning with former Utah Jazz head coach Frank Layden serving as master of ceremonies. Layden coached the Jazz from 1981 through the 1988-89 season, and in 1984, Layden was named the NBA's Coach of the Year. He also has won NBA Executive of the Year and the NBA's J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award.
Former Louisiana Tech head coach Scotty Robertson will also address the team and audience to give his take on this past year's team. Robertson was the head coach of the Bulldogs from the 1964-65 season through the 1973-74 season and led Tech to three conference titles and the Bulldogs' nationally No. 1 ranking in the 1971-72 season.
Finally, Bulldog and NBA legend Karl Malone will address the team and fans. Malone finished his illustrious NBA career as the second all-time leading scorer with 36,928 points. He was named NBA MVP in 1997 and 1999 and was selected to the NBA's All-Star game an astounding 14 consecutive years. As a Bulldog, Karl is sixth all-time in career points with 1,716 in just three seasons.
