RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech men's basketball head coach Kerry Rupp added another recruit to his 2008-09 signing class. The addition of Arrez Henderson brings the total signees to four players during the spring signing period and six total.

Henderson signs with the Bulldogs out of Holmes High School in Covington, Ky., where he helped lead his team to the state championship game and a 34-3 record this season. Henderson earned all-state honors and will participate in the prestigious Indiana-Kentucky All-Star Game.

"I especially like the way Arrez led his high school team to the Kentucky State High School Championship game this past season," Rupp said. "He speaks to the most important thing to me of giving it everything you have, going until there is nothing left to give and then some."

This season Henderson also was named Cincinnati Enquirer Player of the Year, Louisville Courier-Journal first team and Associated Press second team. He was elected to the all-tournament team the last two seasons for his performance in the state playoffs and named MVP of the regional tournament.

Henderson averaged16.7 points a game this season with 5.6 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 2.1 assists. Holmes HS coach David Henley said Henderson is a player that does what it takes to win games and it shows in his ability to lead the team.

"I think the biggest thing he brings is he's a winner," Henley said. "I think any kid when they have aspirations of playing college basketball they want to play Division I and Arrez is no different. He played varsity for us for four years and I got very close with him. I'm very happy for him because he's worked hard for it and he deserves it. I'm awful proud of him."

Henderson proved his winner's mentality in the state quarterfinals this season with the team down one point at half time. Henderson had not scored in the first half or the first four minutes of the third quarter, but he scored 21 points in the final 12 minutes of the game to come from behind and advance to the semifinals.

Arrez is a combo guard that can play shooting guard or run the point. He is the sixth signee of this year's recruiting class.

"I am thrilled and extremely excited with the recruiting job that my associate head coach Nikita Johnson and our staff has done so far," Rupp said. "Arrez Henderson is a real winner both on and off the court and he is a great addition to our signing class."
