Bulldogs Sign LaBarrius Hill to NLI
May 2, 2016
RUSTON – Louisiana Tech head coach Eric Konkol added more depth to the front court on Monday with the signing of LaBarrius Hill to a national letter of intent in the late signing period.
Hill, who goes by the name “Barri,” has spent the past two seasons at Itawamba Community College and now joins recent junior college transfer Omar Sherman, as well as fall signees Jalen Harris, JaColby Pemberton, Oliver Powell and DaQuan Bracey as the newest members of the LA Tech Bulldogs.
“We are thrilled Barri is joining our Louisiana Tech family,” Konkol said. “He has a high energy personality and plays with great effort and athleticism. Barri fits our culture, our style of play and we can't wait to begin working with him.”
The 6-foot-8-inch, 210-pound forward made 18 starts as a sophomore at ICC where he averaged 9.2 points per game while shooting 60 percent from the field. He produced three double-doubles while also averaging 6.7 rebounds per contest.
Hill specializes in being a rim protector. This past season, he averaged 2.4 blocks per game, a mark that ranked 12th in the NJCAA national leaderboard. He posted at least three blocks in almost half of the games he played in.
In high school at Parrish, he was the top shot blocker in the state of Alabama for two consecutive years. In 2014, he anchored the Tornadoes to a 28-3 overall record which included the team’s first ever berth to the state championship game.
Hill ended up averaging 14.0 points, 14.0 rebounds and 7.5 blocks per game as a senior. He was a two-time first team Class 1A All-State selection.
