RUSTON - Having already brought on board an associate head coach and an assistant coach, Louisiana Tech head coach Eric Konkol announced Friday the hiring of Andy Fox as the new director of basketball operations.

Fox comes to LA Tech from Tulane where he has spent the past five years with head coach Ed Conroy as an assistant coach and director of operations.

"Andy is experienced, incredibly detailed and passionate about people," Konkol said. "He has an understanding of every aspect of organizing a program and we will benefit greatly from his time spent in Louisiana. He will have a major impact on our team and I feel fortunate he has chosen to join our Louisiana Tech family."

While handling operations at Tulane, Fox's responsibilities included team travel, coordination of student-athlete recruiting, video scouting operations, university admissions and staff liaison, budget manager and basketball camp director.

As an assistant, his primary role was recruiting, game preparation and player development. He helped Tulane to back-to-back postseason tournament appearances with a trip to the Tournament (CIT) in 2012-13 and to the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) in 2013-14.

In 2012-13, the Green Wave posted a 20-15 record, the program's first 20-win season since 2000.

"I am very grateful to coach Eric Konkol for the opportunity to join his staff at Louisiana Tech University," Fox said. "I am excited to contribute in the continued growth of the program under Eric's leadership. The commitment from the University to athletic excellence and the respect I have for Eric and his recruiting, coaching and player development abilities made this an extremely attractive opportunity. My family and I can't wait to get to Ruston and join the Bulldogs."

Fox came to Tulane with Conroy after spending four seasons as an assistant coach at The Citadel. While at The Citadel, he helped the Bulldogs to their most successful stretch in program history, including a school record 20 wins and the first postseason appearance in school history in 2009.

Prior to his arrival at The Citadel, Fox served as a graduate assistant at Tennessee, one year each under Bruce Pearl and Buzz Peterson. While with the Volunteers in 2006, the team captured the SEC East Championship and earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Fox's duties as a GA included coordinating all on-campus recruiting activities and operations, opponent scouting prep, student-athlete academic support, video operations, coordination of summer camps and various other administrative duties.

From 2002 to 2004, Fox spent his summers working basketball camps around the country. His experience working as a counselor includes serving on the camp staffs at Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisville, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Northern Iowa, Snow Valley and also at the legendary Morgan Wootten camp.

He earned his bachelor's degree in 2004 in economics and health science from Cornell College (Iowa) where he played basketball for four years. He was a two-year captain, earning All-Iowa Conference honors in 2004.

He completed his master's in sports psychology from Tennessee's Sports Studies program in 2006.

Fox and his wife Tiffany have a son, Brendan.

His hiring is pending the approval of the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System.
