Appleby Inks Pro Contract
Aug. 2, 2015
RUSTON – After spending the last four years helping Louisiana Tech win three conference regular season titles and have three postseason appearances, Raheem Appleby will now be taking his basketball skills to the professional level as he has inked a contract to play in Hungary.
Appleby will depart in a couple weeks for training camp to be with the PVSK Panthers as part of the NB I/A, considered to be the top men’s league in all of Hungary.
“I am excited for Raheem to begin his career in a top, competitive league such as Hungary,” said Gilad Berkowitz, Raheem’s agent and president of Berkowitz Career Ventures. “There are many teams that play international competition and being on a platform of a television league provides opportunity for him to be seen.
“There were a lot of different teams in a lot of different countries that reached out. Raheem and I felt like this exposure presented him with the best opportunity for his long-term career.”
The Jacksonville, Arkansas native finished his career as a three-time all-conference selection, racking up 1,770 career points which ranks as the sixth most in program history.
He also finished fifth in program history in attempted field goals, attempted three-pointers and made three-pointers.
Appleby becomes the second Bulldog off this past season’s roster to sign a professional contract. Michale Kyser inked a one-year, partially guaranteed deal with the Toronto Raptors in July.
