NASSAU, Bahamas - The competition got much tougher on Wednesday night for the Louisiana Tech men's basketball team and the Bulldogs were up for the challenge as they defeated the Providence Storm, 96-87, inside Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium.
The Storm was coming off of an impressive victory over North Carolina just four days ago and it took everything LA Tech to keep the home team from pulling out another one.
The three veteran seniors played a huge role in the win, starting with Raheem Appleby who dropped in a team-high 21 points.
Michale Kyser nearly registered a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds, not to be outdone by his fellow teammate Kenneth Smith who was close to a triple-double with seven points, eight boards and 11 assists.
The game was nip-and-tuck most of the way as the game was knotted up at 63-63 at the end of the third quarter.
With 5:35 left to go in the contest, the Bulldogs held a two-point advantage but then went on a mini 10-4 run over the next two minutes to extend their lead to eight which proved to be the difference.
LA Tech concludes its Summer of Thunder foreign tour tomorrow night when they square off against the PJ Stringers at 8 p.m. CT.
