@LATechHoops Announces 2014-15 Schedule
Sept. 10, 2014
RUSTON - Louisiana Tech head coach Michael White announced today the 2014-15 Bulldog basketball schedule which features two road games against ACC opponents and a 15-game home slate, including the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.
The 15 games to be played in the Thomas Assembly Center will tie for the most ever in a single season for LA Tech.
"Getting home games has become a challenge for this program," said White. "Fortunately, we have been afforded the opportunity to host the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, giving us an additional three home games. Our non-conference schedule certainly provides ample opportunity for both growth and success and hopefully we can capitalize on those opportunities."
Prior to stepping onto Karl Malone Court, the Bulldogs will tipoff the season in Baton Rouge at Southern on Nov. 14 followed by a trip to Philadelphia to take on Temple on Nov. 17.
LA Tech will then welcome in Morehead State, American and Presbyterian to take part in the round robin tournament on the weekend of Nov. 21-23.
The `Dogs conclude a four-game home stretch with a matchup versus Samford before taking on three consecutive regional opponents in return home-and-home games - at Northwestern State (Dec. 2), vs. Jackson State (Dec. 6) and at Louisiana-Lafayette (Dec. 10).
The team will then make its longest trip of the season to New York State to battle national-power Syracuse on Dec. 14, a game that will be televised on ESPNU. The Orange spent three weeks last season ranked No. 1 in the country by the Associated Press and USA Today.
In-state foe Nicholls State comes to the TAC on Dec. 18 before LA Tech goes on the road to face another Atlantic Coast Conference opponent in North Carolina State on Dec. 23.
A game versus an opponent to-be-determined will be played at the end of the month before the Bulldogs open up Conference USA play with a three-game road stretch, starting in Hattiesburg, Mississippi for a showdown with Southern Miss on Jan. 3 before heading to Texas to play UTEP and UTSA on Jan. 8 and 10, respectively.
LA Tech returns home to face UAB and Middle Tennessee before travelling back to the Lone Star State to take on North Texas and Rice.
The month of January wraps up with a home meeting against first year C-USA member WKU on the 29th and Marshall on the 31st.
With the league now at 14 members and upping its regular season schedule to 18 games, the Bulldogs will face five teams twice rather than just one like it did a year ago.
The first of those repeat opponents are road games at UAB and Middle Tennessee on Feb. 5 and 7, respectively.
For a second consecutive year, the Bulldogs will host the Florida schools in Florida Atlantic and FIU before venturing to the east coast to play Charlotte on Feb. 19 and Old Dominion on Feb. 21.
Concluding the regular season is a three-game home stand with contests versus UTEP, UTSA and the finale against Southern Miss on March 5.
"The Conference USA schedule will be extremely challenging," said White. "I expect our league to be very competitive this year. In addition, we have the opportunity to play some really good teams in our league twice."
With several road games within driving distance, LA Tech fans will also have a chance this season to make the drive to the 2015 C-USA Tournament to be held in Birmingham, Alabama at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex on March 11-14.
