Bulldog Basketball Announces 2016-17 Schedule

RUSTON – A record-tying 17 home games and a neutral site contest at the CenturyLink Center in Bossier City highlight the 2016-17 Louisiana Tech men’s basketball schedule, announced by head coach Eric Konkol on Tuesday.

After a home exhibition with Southern Arkansas, the regular season will officially tipoff on Nov. 11 at South Carolina.

“We are excited to compete in 2016-17 with a non-conference schedule that will prepare us for Conference USA play,” Konkol said. “We will compete in outstanding venues early in the season including a neutral site game in Shreveport which brings a game to our passionate fans and alumni there. Andy Fox, our director of basketball operations, worked tirelessly to put this schedule together and we are pleased with the end result.”

The home opener will follow on Nov. 16 versus Alabama State followed by a road contest on Nov. 19 at Big Ten foe Nebraska. Next, the Bulldogs will host Oklahoma Baptist before participating in the California Bears Classic.

The multi-team event will consist of three games inside the Thomas Assembly Center versus UMES, Southeastern Louisiana and Alcorn State as well as a trip out west to face California.

Then on Dec. 10, LA Tech will head south to do battle with in-state foe Louisiana-Lafayette for the 162nd time in the series storied history.

The ‘Dogs will wrap-up non-conference play with games in the TAC against Prairie View A&M, Florida Gulf Coast and LSU-Shreveport while also participating in the first annual Shreveport-Bossier Holiday Classic on Dec. 17. The event will be a triple header at the CenturyLink Center with LA Tech facing Grambling State in the final game.



The 18-game Conference USA slate will begin on Jan. 1 of the new year at Southern Miss. The Bulldogs will take on USM, as well as UTEP, UTSA, Rice and North Texas twice while playing every other league opponent once.

The one-time opponents will include road games at Charlotte, Old Dominion, UAB and Middle Tennessee while the home games will be versus WKU, Marshall, Florida Atlantic and FIU.

The regular season concludes on March 4 in the TAC against the Golden Eagles.

The C-USA Tournament returns to Birmingham, Alabama and will take place on March 8-11 at Legacy Arena at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC).
