McCree Selected to Preseason All-Conference USA Team

Oct. 6, 2016

RUSTON – Louisiana Tech redshirt senior Erik McCree was one of 10 players selected to the preseason All-Conference USA team as voted on by the league head coaches.

Since C-USA started releasing a preseason team back in 2013, LA Tech is one of only three schools to have at least one player chosen each season.

For McCree, this is the second straight year the forward has found his name on this list. He deserved it last season as he went on to claim numerous postseason honors like second team All-Conference USA, NABC second team all-district and first team All-Louisiana.

On the court, he led the team with eight double-doubles which was the most by a Bulldog since 2011. He was one of only two players in the league to rank in both the top eight in scoring (16.2 points per game) and rebounding (7.4 boards per game).

The Orlando, Florida native posted 25+ points in five games, recording a career-high 33 in a win over regular season champion UAB. He also poured in 30 points in the opening league game against Southern Miss.

He is only 105 points shy of becoming the 39th Bulldog in program history to reach 1,000 career points.

LA Tech was picked to finish seventh in the preseason poll behind UAB, Middle Tennessee, WKU, Marshall, Old Dominion and UTEP.

The 2016-17 season tips off on Nov. 11 when LA Tech plays at South Carolina. The season will culminate with the 2017 Conference USA Basketball Championship on March 8-11 in Birmingham, Alabama.

Season tickets are currently available. Fans interested in purchasing tickets can contact the LA Tech Ticket Office by phone at (318) 257-3631 or by email at techtickets@latech.edu.
