RUSTON – In the league’s fifth installment, Louisiana Tech senior Jacobi Boykins was named to the Men’s Basketball Preseason All-Conference USA Team in a vote by the league head coaches. The sharpshooter joins fellow teammate DaQuan Bracey as members of the 10-person squad. Boykins was second on the team last season in scoring with an average of 14.7 points per game in route to being selected Third Team All-Conference USA. He set the program record for most made three-pointers in a single season with 89, shooting a career-best 41 percent from behind the arc. That clip ranked fourth in the league and 36th in the country. Boykins was arguably the team’s best defender last season. A member of the five-person C-USA All-Defensive Team, he averaged 4.7 boards per contest while also registering a team-best 65 steals which tied for the fourth most in school history. His average of 2.0 swipes per game was the highest in C-USA and also ranked 25th in the nation. The lone senior on this year’s roster is on the verge of a couple of milestones – needs 92 points to reach 1,000 for his career and needs just 54 more triples to set the career program record for made threes. The 2017-18 season tips off on Nov. 10 when LA Tech plays host to UT Tyler. Season tickets are currently available.
