Speedy Ranked 89th Best College Basketball Player by CBSSports.com
Oct. 30, 2014
RUSTON - The start of the 2014-15 college basketball season is two weeks away which means many publications are getting into the preseason rankings talk.
One of those is CBSSports.com who today released its list of the top 100 college basketball players for the upcoming season and making the list was Louisiana Tech's Kenneth Smith at No. 89.
Speedy is arguably the best passer in the country and the numbers certainly agree. The senior dished out an average of 7.7 assists per game last season which ranked second in the nation.
The 278 total assists broke the single season program record and Conference USA record.
He is also known as a huge pest on the defensive side, earning C-USA Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the Lefty Driesell Defensive All-American team. He registered 2.50 steals per game, good for ninth in the country.
Even though he is best known for his assists and steals, the point guard does much more. At 6-foot-3, he also averaged 7.8 points and 3.8 rebounds, including 16-point, 14-rebound effort at Florida State in the NIT quarterfinals last season.
He was recently named one of 10 players to the C-USA Preseason All-Conference team.
The season tips off for LA Tech on Nov. 14 when the `Dogs travel to Baton Rouge to face Southern.
Season tickets are still available by contacting the LA Tech Ticket Office by phone at (318) 257-3631 or by email at email@example.com.
