Two Players Ink with the Bulldogs

Nov. 14, 2012

RUSTON - High school athletes are signing national letters of intent all around the country on what is the first day of the early signing period, and two are inking pen to paper to play for the Louisiana Tech men's basketball team.

Head coach Michael White officially announced this morning the signings of guard Dominic Jackson of Sunset, La. and forward Leo Edwards of Detroit, Mich.

"Both of these additions to our program are very talented players, and high character kids," said White. "Today is an exciting day!"

Jackson is a 6-foot-3, 165-pound shooting guard out of Beau Chene HS in the Lafayette, La. area. Last season for his junior year, he led the runner-up district champion Gators to a 21-win season and a second round playoff appearance in Class 4A while averaging 25 points, six rebounds and five steals per game.

"I chose Louisiana Tech because it was a perfect fit," said Jackson, who also considered St. John's and Southeastern Louisiana. "I love their tempo, and how they go up and down, push the ball. It was just a perfect fit for me."

As a junior, he received all-district honors while also being named first team Class 4A all-state.

"[Dominic] possesses the speed, quickness and stroke to be an ideal shooting guard for us," said White. "He's a very competitive defender as well."

Jackson is originally from Saginaw, Mich. which is only a couple of hours away from Detroit where the other Bulldog signee Leo Edwards hails from.

Edwards is a 6-foot-8, 220-pound power forward out of Romulus HS in the Detroit area who also played for the AAU Team Detroit. He helped lead the AAU squad to multiple tournament wins including the King James Classic.

"Louisiana Tech felt right when I was there," said Edwards, who also considered Rice, Lehigh and St. Bonaventure. "It was a place I felt like I could fit in and contribute."

With the Bulldogs losing a senior forward in J.L. Lewis, Edwards is expected to fill his shoes in the frontcourt.

"Leo has the size and skill level to be a very good frontcourt player in CUSA," said White. "Having just recently turned only 17, he has a very big upside."
