Bulldogs Round Out Recruiting Class with East Coast Guard

Nov. 19, 2015

RUSTON – Louisiana Tech head coach Eric Konkol and his coaching staff added one final piece to the puzzle on Thursday with the signing of point guard DaQuan Bracey to a National Letter of Intent.

Bracey, who goes by the nickname “DayDay,” joins a stellar 2015 recruiting class which also includes three highly-touted players from the Dallas area.

“We are very happy to add DaQuan Bracey to this recruiting class with Jalen Harris, JaColby Pemberton, and Oliver Powell,” Konkol said. “All four have tremendous attitudes, are committed to improvement and will represent Louisiana Tech in a first class manner.”

Bracey is unlike any other Bulldog on the roster, standing at 5-feet-10-inches with a quick burst and can finish with either hand around the rim.

The Baltimore, Maryland native helped lead St. Francis Academy to the semifinals of the Baltimore Catholic League Tournament. He ended up averaging 15 points per game last season while shooting a 37 percent clip from beyond the arc.

“DayDay is a quick and clever guard with an attacking mentality,” Konkol added. “He has the uncanny ability to penetrate the lane and create for his team as well as be disruptive defensively. He will be well prepared for college having competed in the strong BCL and being coached by Nick Myles.”

The lefty can do much more than shoot. He averaged seven assists, 4.6 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game for the Panthers and was named first team All-BCL and second team All-Metro in Baltimore.

Bracey was also selected first team All-MIAA (Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association) and was chosen as the MVP of the Charm City Classic in 2015.

He played his AAU ball for Baltimore Nike Elite.
