RUSTON -- After a big win over GSU Saturday, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs return to action Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. to take on the UL-Monroe Warhawks (2-4) in the Thomas Assembly Center.
"These are all big games," Louisiana Tech head coach Kerry Rupp said. "We want to approach all of our games as big games. We have great focus and attention, and I think our guys are excited to play these games (against local opponents). We need to come out and make sure we play our best basketball and be at our best."
It's been nearly twenty years since old rivals Louisiana Tech and UL-Monroe took to the hardwood in men's basketball. The two teams last played in the 1990-91 season while the Bulldogs were in the American South Conference and the then-Indians were in the Southland conference.
Tech leads the all-time series 47-36. Since the 1986-87 season, the Bulldogs have won eight of 11 over UL-Monroe.
The Bulldogs snapped a four-game losing streak Saturday night against Grambling State 77-47. Tech controlled the game from the opening tip en route to a blowout win.
UL-Monroe has lost two straight; their most recent loss came against Auburn 76-55.
Junior Kyle Gibson leads Bulldog scorers at 15.3 points per game, while Jarvis Hill leads the Warhawks at 15.2 ppg.
ESPN 97.7 will be broadcasting the game over the radio with a live audio stream on the internet at www.espn977.com.
The game can also be seen over the Internet for $4.99 by logging onto www.latechtv.com and clicking on the athletics link on the top right portion of the page. Fans can order the game starting one hour prior to tipoff.
