McCree Earns LSWA Honor for Second Straight Week
Dec. 12, 2016
RUSTON – For the second straight week Louisiana Tech’s Erik McCree posted two double-doubles and for the second straight week he was named as the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
The redshirt senior has been on an offensive tear as of late. He started the week off by registering 20 points and 11 rebounds in just 25 minutes of action to help lead the Bulldogs to a lopsided 98-65 victory over Alcorn State. The 98 points was a season high for LA Tech and it also extended its home winning streak to 12.
The power forward followed that up by scoring a game-high 23 points (10-of-15 from the field) and 11 rebounds in a narrow loss at Louisiana-Lafayette.
In both games combined, he shot a whopping 67 percent from the field and 40 percent from beyond the arc.
McCree has now recorded four straight double-doubles, the most by a Bulldog since 2010. He also has three straight games of 20+ points and 10+ rebounds, the first to do that since Paul Millsap in 2006.
Next up for the Bulldogs is a home matchup against Prairie View A&M on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. inside the Thomas Assembly Center.
