RUSTON, La. -
A pair of eight-win teams will take the court at the Thomas Assembly Center on Tuesday as Louisiana Tech hosts Murray State at 7 p.m.
The game starts a string of three-straight home games for Tech. Five of their next six games are at home as they played on the road in eight of their first ten games. Like the Bulldogs (8-2) in the WAC, the Racers (8-1) lead the Ohio Valley Conference.
LA Tech is coming off a 102-96 double-overtime win at Centenary on Saturday. The Bulldogs overcame a 22-point second-half deficit and 20-of-29 three-point shooting by the Gents to win the game. Senior Kyle Gibson was held scoreless in the first half, but scored 28 points in the second half and extra periods to lead Tech. Junior DeAndre Brown poured in a career-high 18 points and senior Magnum Rolle scored 22.
Murray State has won its last eight games after suffering a loss at Pac-10 preseason favorite California to open the season. They are led by last season's Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year Ivan Aska. The sophomore is averaging 12.9 points and 5.1 rebounds. When the Racers win, they do it convincingly as they are outscoring their opponents by an average of 21.3 points.
The two teams met last February as part of an ESPN BracketBusters matchup. The Bulldogs came away with a 69-60 win at Murray, Ky. as Rolle scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Olu Ashaolu and Gibson each scored 16 points on way to Tech's 12th win of the season.
The contest can be heard live throughout the LA Tech Sports Network, including KXKZ 107.5 FM (Ruston) and KBYO 92.7 FM (Monroe/Farmerville).
LA Tech fans can also access the game via the Internet by subscribing to LA Tech All-Access (log onto www.latechsports.com) as the audio and video will be streamed live. Livestats are also available on the website.
