BATON ROUGE, La. - The rim protector of the Louisiana Tech defense, Michale Kyser, was announced today as the Louisiana College Basketball Player of the Week by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
The junior forward was instrumental this past week in leading LA Tech to two wins versus in-state foes, McNeese State (64-50) and ULM (83-61).
On Tuesday against the Cowboys, Kyser nearly pulled off the third triple-double in Bulldog history as he tallied a career-high 13 points to go along with a career-tying 17 rebounds and seven rejections.
The Lancaster, Texas native turned in another solid performance the next game against the Warhawks, chipping in for 10 points, six rebounds and four blocks in just 24 minutes of action while helping limit ULM to its lowest scoring output of the season.
This marked the first time in Kyser's career he has recorded back-to-back double-digit scoring performances.
On the defensive end, he has now registered at least three blocks in 12 of the 13 games played in this season.
This is Kyser's first career Player of the Week honor.
