Damon Harrington developed a reputation as a fierce competitor during his playing days as a linebacker for Louisiana Tech during the late 1990s.

Harrington still has the same hard-nosed reputation among the Bulldog players, but it comes as the Assistant A.D./Strength and Conditioning at Louisiana Tech.

Harrington was hired as the head strength and conditioning coach at Tech in January, 2006, his second stint in the role after he spent the previous two years as the assistant director for player development at Georgia Tech working with all aspects of the Yellow Jackets football strength and conditioning program alongside another former Bulldog coach, Eric Ciano.

Before taking the position at Georgia Tech, Harrington served as the head strength and conditioning coach at Louisiana Tech in 2002 and 2003, overseeing a program which serves all 16 of the university's NCAA sanctioned sports.

He also spent two years as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Louisiana Tech under Ciano in 2000 and 2001.

Since returning to his alma mater, Harrington has been instrumental in improving the strength and conditioning program at Louisiana Tech.

One of the many improvements during Harrington's regime has been the implementation of supplements for the Tech student-athletes, including chocolate milk and muscle milk, which helps with the recovery period after workouts.

Harrington's regiment workout program has helped the Bulldog football players break more than 25 strength records (by position) in the last five years and ultimately has helped lead to a number of fourth-quarter come-from-behind wins.

Under the direction of Dooley, Harrington and his staff have implemented the Dawg Fight Program, which incorporates ATTITUDE, TEAM, DISCIPLINE, TOUGHNESS and EFFORT. This program is designed to prepare the players to be as physically and mentally tough as possible in order to play hard for four quarters and make the plays at the end of games that will ultimately lead to victory.

In the past three seasons, Louisiana Tech has posted five fourth quarter come-from-behind wins. In the four seasons prior, the Bulldogs had posted a total of five fourth quarter come-from-behind wins.

Harrington began his playing career at Louisiana Tech as a walk-on to the Bulldog football program in 1995 before earning a scholarship his sophomore season. He started every game at linebacker during his junior and senior seasons, leading the team in tackles both years with 121 in 1998 and 122 in 1999.

The Elkton, Md., native earned All-Louisiana honors in 1998 and 1999 while also being named to the All-Independent team by Football News in 1999. Harrington earned his bachelor's degree from Tech in fitness and wellness in 2000 and completed his master's degree in sports science in 2002.

He is certified by the College Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA).

Harrington is married to the former Meg Everett of Alexandria, and the couple have a five-year-old son, Luke, and a three-year-old daughter, Addison.
