Following his football-playing days at Louisiana Tech which included two years as a letter winner, Adam Hymel joins the coaching staff as a defensive graduate assistant in 2013.

He began the 2012-13 academic calendar year as an intern in the strength and conditioning department.

Hymel came to Ruston in 2007 as a walk-on following a prep career that included three years at Captain Shreve and his senior season at Jesuit High School. After red-shirting in 2007 and then serving as a member of the scout squad in 2008 and 2009, Hymel saw his first collegiate action in 2010 when he played nine games for the Bulldogs on the defensive line, registering 18 tackles.

As a senior, he made 12 stops and was a member of a Bulldog defensive unit that helped lead the program to the 2011 Western Athletic Conference title and a berth in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.

As a Player...

2011: Finished the year wtih 12 total tackles (five solo, seven assisted) wtih one sack for a loss of eight yards ... Recorded one solo tackle at Southern Miss (9/3) ... Registered two total tackles against Central Arkansas (9/10) ... Credited with three assisted tackles against Houston (9/17) ... Assisted on two tackles at Mississippi State (9/24) ... His lone tackle against Hawai'i (10/1) was a sack for a loss of eight yards ... Left midway through the game at Idaho (10/8) with an ankle injury ... Recorded three tackles at Nevada (11/19), in his first action since injuring his ankle at Idaho on Oct. 8.

2010: Played in nine games ... Registered 18 tackles with two forced fumbles as a back-up tackle ... Missed three games with a back injury ... Registered three total tackles against Grambling State (9/4) in the Port City Classic at Independence Stadium in Shreveport ... Credited with two total tackles (one solo, one assisted) and forced a fumble at Texas A&M (9/11) ... Registered one solo and one assisted tackle against Navy (9/18) ... Recorded a season-high five total tackles (two solo, three assisted) against Southern Miss (9/25) while also forcing a fumble ... Registered a solo tackle at Hawaii (10/2) ... Assisted on a tackle against Idaho (10/16) ... Registered an assisted tackle at San Jose State (11/27) ... Credited with three total stops (one solo, two assisted) against No. 14 Nevada (12/4).

2009: Member of the scout squad.

2008: Member of the scout squad.

2007: Redshirt season.

High School: Lettered three years for coach Vic Eumont and Sid Edwards at Jesuit... Helped lead the Bluejays to District 10-5A championship as a sophomore... Played at Captain Shreve in Shreveport after Hurricane Katrina and helped lead the Gators to the District 1-4A title as a junior... Named first team All-District and second team All-City as a junior... Named first team All-District, All-Orleans-St. Bernard as a senior at Jesuit... Also lettered in wrestling and track and field one year.
