• Captains for Tech were Matt Broha, Jay Dudley, Stephen Warner and Jordan Mills.
• Making first career starts tonight for Tech were OL Oscar Johnson (Crystal Springs, Miss), WR Myles White (Livonia, Mich.), WR Quinton Patton (LaVergne, Tenn.), QB Nick Isham (Hidden Hills, Calif.), DL Jon'al White (Ruston, La.), DL Adam Hymel (Destrehan, La.), CB Dave Clark (Baton Rouge, La.) and FS Jamel Johnson (Cleveland, Ohio).
• Senior LB Adrien Cole (Mobile, Ala.) blocked a 45-yard field goal attempt in the first quarter by Danny Hrapmann, his first career block. It was the first blocked FG by Tech since the Bulldogs did it against Idaho Oct. 16, 2010.
• Redshirt junior CB Dave Clark (Baton Rouge, La.) returned the block 36 yards to the USM 23.
• Redshirt junior CB Dave Clark (Baton Rouge, La.) also recorded his first career interception in the second quarter when he picked off USM quarterback Austin Davis.
• Redshirt junior safety Jamel Johnson (Cleveland, Ohio) recorded seven tackles in the first quarter (his career high has been 4).
• Junior PK Matt Nelson (Cibolo, Texas) hit a 28-yard field goal in the third quarter were the first points of the year for the Bulldogs. It was Nelson's 27th FG of his career (out of 35 attempts).
• Junior RB/WR Lyle Fitte (Port Sulphur, La.) returned a kickoff 86 yards for a TD on the last play of the third quarter. It was the first of his career and the 10th longest in Bulldog history.
• Fitte's kick return for a TD marks the sixth straight year a Louisiana Tech player has returned either a punt or a kick for a score. The last time a Tech player failed to do it was during the 2005 season.
• Senior DL Matt Broha (Baton Rouge, La.) recorded a sack in the fourth quarter, the first of the season. It gives Broha 15.5 sacks in his career, third in Tech history.
• Redshirt senior CB Justin Goodman (Houston, Texas) recorded a fumble on special team's coverage of a punt in the fourth quarter. It is his second career fumble recovery (at NMSU in 2010).
• Senior RB Lennon Creer (Tatum, Texas) scored on a 1-yard TD run in the fourth quarter. It was his first of the year and the 11th of his career at Tech and 16th of his college career (5 at Tennessee).
• USM now leads the series 31-13. Tech's last win against the Eagles came in 1991 (USM has won three straight in the series).
• Freshman QB Nick Isham finished the game 20-of-36 for 176 yards. He didn't throw an interception or a touchdown.
