Post-Game Quotes
Louisiana Tech vs. Houston
Robertson Stadium, Houston, Texas
Sept. 8, 2012

Louisiana Tech Head Coach Sonny Dykes

“It is hard to win a road game, especially against a good football team that won 13 games last year. We knew that they would be an improved football team over what they were last week and they played well tonight, gave us fits and we were very fortunate to come away with the football game down the stretch.”

On the secondary:

“The big thing for us is winning the football game. It was a team win and we played well enough defensively in the first half. We didn’t play very well on offense in the first half but we found a way to win together and that is what we talked to our team about. It doesn’t matter what the score is, it doesn’t matter if nobody scores in the second half, the important thing is to figure out a way to win and we did.”

On the freshman running backs:

“They played great tonight. The big thing with them was that they protected the football when we really needed it down the stretch.”

On moving forward and learning from this game:

“Houston has a good football team and they are going to win a bunch of games. Hopefully we will look back on this and realize how good of a win it was. I think they are going to get better and better; they are a young team. We just need to keep improving. That is what our thing is about – take care of ourselves and keep getting better. We had a 21 point lead and they made it a little closer by scoring some touchdowns down the stretch and we need to get that fixed.”

“Our defense did some good things tonight and you can’t discredit what they did. They created turnovers and gave their offense some short fields.”
