LA Tech at Kansas Game Notes

• In four meetings, Kansas now leads the all-time series 3-1 over LA Tech with the last win before today coming in 2008 when the Jayhawks defeated the Bulldogs 29-0 in Lawrence.

• Coming into today's game, IK Enemkpali was tied for first in the nation in both pass sacks per game (1.5) and total pass sacks for the season (4.5). Enemkpali sacked Kansas QB Jake Heaps for a 4-yard loss in the 1st quarter to bring his season total to 5.5 sacks. Enemkpali has now totaled 17.5 sacks in his Bulldog career, which ranks him third all-time in LA Tech history.

• Redshirt freshman QB Ryan Higgins made his first career start today vs. Kansas. Higgins saw playing time last week vs. Tulane and was 7-16 for 57 yards with a touchdown and interception in a 24-15 loss. Versus the Jayhawks, Higgins was 35-55 with 289 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

• Before today's game, the last time Kansas beat an FBS team was Sept. 10, 2011 when the Jayhawks defeated Northern Illinois 45-42 in Lawrence, Kan.

• Today's attendance at Lawrence Stadium: 39,823

• LA Tech won the toss to start the game and elected to defer to the second half. Beau Fitte served as a game captain today vs. Kansas along with the season captions: D.J. Banks, IK Enemkpali and Matthew Shepperd.

Thomas McDonald recorded his first career interception w/ 3:00 remaining in the 1st quarter. McDonald intercepted Heaps and returned it for 17 yards. The LA Tech defense has now recorded an interception in all four games this season for a total of four in 2013 thus far.

Ryan Higgins hooked up with Hunter Lee for an 8-yard touchdown pass with 0:06 remaining in the 1st quarter. That is the second passing touchdown of the season for Higgins and the first touchdown reception of the season for Lee. That is the ninth touchdown of Hunter Lee's career and the third touchdown reception of his Bulldog career.

Trent Taylor had a 36-yard reception in the 2nd quarter, which marks the longest reception of his career. His previous long was an 8-yard reception last week vs. Tulane. Taylor had two catches for 56 yards on the day.

• Every FBS school LA Tech has faced in 2013 has failed to score inside the red zone at least once.

• Fischer makes a 39-yard field goal in the second half for his first make of the day and breaks his streak of four consecutive misses dating back to last week's game vs. Tulane; is now 6-9 on the season.

Logan McPherson had three punts downed inside the 10-yard line. He averaged 39.6 yards on six punts in the game.

• With 18 carries for a season-high 129 yards versus the Jayhawks, Kenneth Dixon recorded his second 100-yard rushing game of the 2013 season and the eighth of his Bulldog career.

• Sr. LB Daniel Cobb intercepts Kansas QB Heap for his first of the season. That marks the second interception of the day for the Bulldogs' defense. Cobb led with nine tackles (six solo).
