The series between Louisiana Tech and UTSA is now even at 1-1. Each team has won on their home field in the two-year history of the series in games that have been played in two different conferences.
Louisiana Tech failed to return a kickoff or punt for a touchdown Saturday marking the end of a seven-year streak of doing so. That streak entered the season ranked ninth in the nation.
Trent Taylor’s 24-yard punt return in the first quarter ties a career-long return.
Kyle Fischer’s 24-yard field goal with 4:28 remaining in the first quarter marked his first attempt since Nov. 9 against Southern Miss. He has now hit nine consecutive field goal attempts.
Adairius Barnes’ 26 yard interception return for a touchdown in the second quarter marked Barnes’ fourth interception of the season.
Barnes’ 26-yard interception return marked the first Pick-6 and the first defensive or special teams score for the Bulldogs this season. The last time LA Tech had a pick-6 was Shakeil Lucas against Johnny Manziel on Oct. 13, 2012.
Thomas McDonald’s interception at the end of the first half marked his third career interception.
Saturday’s game was the final game for a Louisiana Tech senior class consisting of 23 players. Of that group, 17 of the 23 (74%) have already earned their undergraduate degrees.
