@LATechFB Nets Two Additions in Time for Spring
Jan. 18, 2016
RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech head coach Skip Holtz announced Monday that Jack Abraham and DaMarion King have signed athletics financial aid agreements to play football at Louisiana Tech beginning with in the 2016 season. Both are expected to enroll in the spring quarter and participate in spring drills.
Abraham has already graduated from Oxford (Miss.) High School and is expected to report to campus in March for the spring quarter and start of spring practice while King is joining the LA Tech Family from Allan Hancock (Calif.) College, also in time for the spring quarter and spring drills.
The 2015 Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year and member of the Mississippi Dandy Dozen, Abraham threw for 5,037 yards and 57 touchdowns in his senior season with only six interceptions as he was 331-for-507. That contributed to a high school career of 12,021 passing yards and 130 touchdowns with only 28 interceptions. He led Oxford (Mississippi) High School to three consecutive state championship games in his career.
“Jack is an impressive player that was named Gatorade Player of the Year in Mississippi which is an incredibly high honor,” Louisiana Tech head coach Skip Holtz said. “He had a huge amount of success in high school and brings some rare physical skills as well as a great understanding of offensive football. I am excited that he has the chance to be here in the spring so he can learn the offense and get adjusted.”
King was an all-conference honoree in 2015 as he returned two interceptions and one fumble for a touchdown and led Allan Hancock College with 67 total tackles. He was credited with nine pass break-ups, registered four tackles for a loss and tallied 125 total return yards over two interceptions (111 yards) and three fumble recoveries (14 yards).
“I am excited about adding an upperclassman safety in DaMarion King to our team,” Holtz said. “He brings experience, maturity and athleticism along with a hard-hitting approach to the game. His addition fills a void as we add an upperclassman to a secondary that just graduated three of its four starters.”
Louisiana Tech is gearing up for National Signing Day on Feb. 3 where the entire signing class of new Bulldogs will be announced. LTAC’s annual Signing Day Social will begin at 4 p.m. in the new Club Level of the Davison Athletics Complex. Fans will hear from Holtz and the rest of the coaching staff on the newest Bulldogs, including Abraham and King.
