LA Tech’s Trent Taylor to Compete in 2017 Senior Bowl
Jan. 27, 2017
MOBILE, Ala. - After leading the nation in receiving yards in 2016, Trent Taylor will represent Louisiana Tech in the red and blue for the final time this weekend as he competes in the 2017 Reese’s Senior Bowl Saturday, Jan. 28 in Mobile, Alabama.
Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. CT at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, while all the action from the game can be seen live on NFL Network.
The Senior Bowl is the nation's most unique football game and football's premier senior showcase event. It annually features the country's best senior collegiate football players and top NFL draft prospects on teams representing the North and South that are coached by the entire coaching staffs of two National Football League teams.
A native of Shreveport, Taylor is listed on the North Team’s roster, which will be coached by NFL head coach John Fox and his Chicago Bears staff.
In his senior season with the Bulldogs, Taylor hauled in 136 passes for 1,803 yards and 12 touchdowns on his way to earning C-USA First Team All-Conference honors. The Biletnikoff Award semifinalist helped lead Louisiana Tech to its third straight 9-win season and third consecutive bowl victory with a 48-45 victory over No. 25-ranked Navy in the 2016 Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl.
Taylor ended his senior season ranked first in the NCAA in receiving yards (1,803) and second in the nation in receptions per game (9.7). With 327 receptions in his career, he ranks third among active players in the NCAA. The 327 career receptions are the most by a player in Louisiana Tech history.
Together with fellow Bulldog wide receiver Carlos Henderson, the duo broke the NCAA record for most receiving yards gained in a single season by two players on the same team (3,338 yards in 2016). Taylor ranks second in Louisiana Tech history with 4,179 yards receiving, making him just the second player in school history to surpass 4,000 receiving yards in a career. His 32 career touchdowns are the second most receiving touchdowns by a Bulldog in program history.
