Louisiana Tech Finalizes 2011 Non-Conference Football Schedule

Feb. 21, 2011

RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech announced Monday afternoon that it has finalized its 2011 non-conference football schedule. The 2011 campaign includes eight games within driving distance from Ruston and the Tech fan base.

The non-conference schedule was finalized Monday with the scheduling of a home game against Central Arkansas, which is scheduled for Sept. 10. The Bulldogs return 18 starters this fall to a team that was one win away from reaching a bowl game last season.

"Our fans and alumni will have tremendous access to watch us play this fall, both at home and on the road," said head coach Sonny Dykes. "I am looking forward to seeing Tech fans at our non-conference road games and filling Joe Aillet Stadium this fall."

In addition to Central Arkansas, Louisiana Tech will host Houston on Sept. 17 as the Cougars return Heisman Trophy Candidate QB Case Keenum. In addition, Tech will host its Western Athletic Conference schedule of Hawaii, New Mexico State and San Jose State. Tech will open the season at Southern Miss on Sept. 3 and will play at Mississippi State and Ole Miss. Conference road trips include games at Fresno State, Idaho, Nevada and Utah State. The WAC office is expected to release the conference schedule in March.

"I think this is a fair and challenging schedule for us but definitely an exciting one to play," continued Dykes. "It has been difficult to finalize this schedule with the recent changes to conference alignment but I am excited to have it set. The BYU game needed to be delayed in order to keep the integrity of the schedule for this season and especially 2012."

During the 2011 campaign, Louisiana Tech will face five teams that played in bowl games this past season. Season tickets are available for $125 with the great value Family Five-Pack returning for only $275. With a package that includes season tickets for two adults and three children, fans save over $350 by taking advantage of the Family Five-Pack.
