Louisiana Tech Finalizes 2010 Football Schedule
March 15, 2010
RUSTON, La. - With the release of the Western Athletic Conference schedule and ESPN's selection of games for televised broadcasts, Louisiana Tech officials have finalized the 2010 football schedule and home game times that includes seven games being played in the state of Louisiana.
Louisiana Tech's conference schedule begins on Oct. 2 at Hawaii and the Bulldogs will close the 2010 season at home against Nevada on Dec. 4. Homecoming is set for Oct. 16 against Idaho at 3 p.m.
"This is one of the best home schedules that we have had in several years," said Athletics Director Bruce Van De Velde. "With seven games in the state of Louisiana and five bowl teams from last year coming to Ruston, I think our alumni and fans are going to be pretty excited for this fall. We are hoping they respond by investing in season tickets. Getting a stronger season ticket base is critical to our long term success as a program and as an athletics department."
Louisiana Tech had previously announced its non-conference slate that has the Sonny Dykes era opening on Sept. 4 against Grambling in the Port City Classic in Shreveport at 6 p.m. at Independence Stadium. Tech will play at Texas A&M on Sept. 11 before returning home to host four games over the next five weeks.
"I am really excited about the great schedule we have for this fall," said new Louisiana Tech head coach Sonny Dykes. "We get the chance to host some very tough programs at home while playing a schedule that gives us the opportunity to have a successful season."
Tech's stretch of four home games in five weeks begins with the Bulldogs hosting Navy at 6 p.m. on Sept. 18 followed by Tech's annual RED OUT game against Southern Miss on Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. WAC play opens on Oct. 2 when the Bulldogs head to Hawaii.
LA Tech returns home on Oct. 9 to host Utah State at a time to be determined. Homecoming 2010 is set for Oct. 16 when the Bulldogs host Idaho in a contest set for 3 p.m.
Louisiana Tech will once again face Boise State on national television when the two teams meet on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN2 on the blue turf at Bronco Stadium in Boise. Tech will then get 11 days off before hosting Fresno State on Nov. 6.
The Bulldogs will head to New Mexico State on Nov. 13 before its Nov. 20 bye week. Tech will play at San Jose State on Nov. 27 and will close out the regular schedule by hosting Nevada on Dec. 4.
With such a great home schedule, Bulldog fans are encouraged to reserve their season tickets early. Fans can catch all six home games for only $130 and can reserve their tickets from the comfort of their own home by logging onto LATechSports.com. While not included in the season ticket package, tickets for the Port City Classic against Grambling are available for $25 while students can get tickets for $10 with a valid student ID.
