RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech running back Tevin King suffered an ankle injury during the Bulldogs’ seventh practice of the spring Wednesday. Due to the severity of the injury, King is expected to miss the remainder of spring practice but is expected to available when Louisiana Tech opens fall camp in August. He underwent surgery on the ankle late Wednesday night in Ruston.

King, a 5-6 running back that will be a redshirt sophomore in the fall, was sidelined for three games in 2013 with a high ankle sprain. However, the injury sustained Wednesday was not on the same ankle that limited him during the 2013 season. He finished the year with 539 rushing yards on 93 carries, averaging 5.8 yards per carry and 59.9 yards per game with one touchdown scored.

He paired with Kenneth Dixon and Blake Martin to form a dynamic rushing trio that averaged 5.8 yards per carry, churning out 1,723 rushing yards over the course of the season.

Louisiana Tech opens the 2014 season on Aug. 30 at Oklahoma.
