Bulldogs Go Through Full Pads Workout

RUSTON – Derek Dooley put his Louisiana Tech football team through its first day in full pads Friday at the Jim Mize Track and Field Complex as the Bulldogs participated in a two-and-a-half hour session.

Dooley said that the practice – Tech’s third of the spring – was what he expected for the first full day in pads.

“Just like the first day of the off-season program; just like the first day of practice; this was the first day of full pads,” Dooley said. “We had a lot of starry eyed guys; a lot of nervous guys; a lot of guys who aren’t sure what the expectations are.

“Anytime you put the pads on the first time there is a little anxiety. Anxiety brings tension and when you have tension, you don’t play the way you need to play. There were some good things out there though. There were some individuals who did a nice job, but overall we have a lot of improvement to do.”

Louisiana Tech will take to the practice field again on Saturday as the Bulldogs continue preparations for the program’s spring game set for Saturday, April 21 at 1 p.m. at Joe Aillet Stadium.
