The Bulldogs began spring practice March 19, and Bicknell said he has been pleased with the progress he has seen over the past three weeks.
"We have definitely made some strides on both sides of the football," Bicknell said. "The guys have been working hard and concentrating on being physical, especially on the defensive side of the football. We have tried a number of different things, and I have liked what I have seen."
Tech underwent an hour and forty-minute light practice Friday in just helmets in preparation for the intra-squad contest Saturday.
"We had to get in one more practice with just helmets," Bicknell said. "Obviously, timing wise it worked out well for us since the game is tomorrow. We will still have two practices left after tomorrow, and I plan on going Monday and Tuesday evenings."
With 17 starters, including both kickers, and 49 letter winners returning, Bicknell said he feels more comfortable coming out of this spring then he did last year.
"We are more experienced in most of the positions than last year," said the third-year boss. "We might be a little less experienced at some of the skill positions but we have a lot of talent, and just need some guys to step up."
Saturday's contest is free and open to the general public.
