Phil Steele Names Nine Bulldogs to his 2012 Preseason All-WAC First Team

RUSTON, La. - On the heels of winning a Western Athletic Conference Championship and becoming the likely favorite for next year's WAC title, Louisiana Tech had nine players named to Phil Steele's 2012 Preseason All-WAC First Team. In all, Tech had 21 players named preseason All-WAC with Ryan Allen named preseason First Team All-America.
Allen was the only preseason All-America honoree for LA Tech by Phil Steele after winning the 2011 Ray Guy Award and receiving All-America honors last season from multiple outlets. Allen was joined by Matt Nelson on the first team all-WAC special teams list.
On the first team offense were four Bulldogs led by wide receiver Quinton Patton who registered over 1,200 receiving yards last year. Patton is joined by quarterback Colby Cameron, receiver Myles White and OL Kevin Saia on the first team offense while Justin Ellis (a 2011 second team all-WAC honoree), IK Enemkpali and Chad Boyd were selected to the preseason first team defense.
Tech had eight Bulldogs selected to the preseason all-WAC second team including RB Hunter Lee, OL Stephen Warner (a 2011 first team all-WAC honoree), OL Oscar Johnson, DT Shakeil Lucas, LB Solomon Randle, CB Dave Clark, S Jamel Johnson and KR Lyle Fitte.
Louisiana Tech opens the 2012 season on Aug. 30 with a home game against Texas A&M in Tech's home away from home, Independence Stadium in Shreveport. Season tickets are already on sale with prices as low as $90 and individual game tickets go on sale June 18.
