RUSTON - With six weeks to go before its season opener at Southern Miss on Sept. 3, Louisiana Tech Athletics officials reported today that Bulldog football season tickets are selling at a record pace.
LA Tech Associate Athletics Director Eric Buskirk said that more than 400 new season ticket acounts have already been sold and that the department is ahead of last year's record pace by almost 10 percent.
In addition to the excitement surrounding Sonny Dykes and the Bulldog football team heading into the 2011 campaign, Buskirk noted the new partnership with the Aspire Group, which has constructed a Fan Relationship Management Center (FRMC) on campus in Ruston with a five-member staff devoted to selling and servicing Louisiana Tech Athletics ticket buyers.
"We have hit record season ticket sales for four straight years, and we are very excited to be well above pace to set yet another new record this year," said Buskirk. "With the addition of our partnership with the Aspire Group, we anticipate an even larger increase and growth in our season ticket sales."
In addition to the normal marketing platforms that the athletics department utilizes, Buskirk also noted that a specialized mailer is currently being produced and will be mailed out in mid-August to single game buyers and any donors who aren't already season ticket holders to encourage additional sales.
Assistant Athletics Director Chance Snow said that the Family Pack, which includes two adult and three children's tickets ($275), is one of the most popular season ticket packages that has seen a tremendous amount of growth in the last few years.
"We have seen a tremendous increase in traffic via phone and walk-ins compared to past seasons," Snow said. "I would like to encourage all fans to renew their season tickets prior to August 1 when single game tickets go on sale."
Tech opens its five-game home schedule on Sept. 10 when it hosts Central Arkansas while Heisman Trophy candidate Case Keenum and the Houston Cougars venture to Joe Aillet Stadium the following weekend. The Bulldogs will also host three home Western Athletic Conference games against Hawaii (Oct. 1), San Jose State (Oct. 29 - Homecoming) and New Mexico State (Nov. 26).
