LA Tech Sports Network Announces Broadcast Team

RUSTON - LA Tech Sports Properties General Manager Mason Ellenberger announced that KXKZ 107.5 FM will serve as the flagship station for the LA Tech Sports Network for the 15th straight year as the 100,000 watt station will carry all of the Bulldog football games in 2013.
Its sister station- KNBB 97.7 FM - will host Hill Oil's Inside Bulldog Football with Skip Holtz radio show each and every Monday throughout the season at The Dawg House Sports Grill with a new start time of 6 p.m. The first edition of Hill Oil's Inside Bulldog Football is scheduled for Aug. 26.
Ellenberger also confirmed that all 11 affiliates from the 2012 season have renewed their clearance rights for this year while stressing that LA Tech Sports Properties continues to seek expansion of the network throughout the state and region. LA Tech Sports Properties, a property of Learfield Sports and the multimedia rights holder for Louisiana Tech Athletics, oversees all aspects of the LA Tech Sports Network.
"We are committed to increasing our network coverage as we make the transition into Conference USA," Ellenberger said. "We know that the demand for our product continues to increase, and we are listening to our customers. I am hopeful that we will have some additions to the network that we can announce before the start of the season."
The 11 affiliate network will continue to provide coverage across the region, bringing the Bulldogs to listeners in Arkansas, East Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana. In addition to the affiliates in Ruston, the LA Tech Sports Network will also include KJVC 92.7 FM (Mansfield), KTKC 92.9 (Springhill), KBEF 104.5 FM (Minden), KASO 1240 AM (Minden), KPCH 99.3 (Ruston), KVCL 92.1 FM (Winnfield), KRMD 1340 AM (Shreveport/Bossier City), KRMD 100.7 FM (Shreveport/Bossier City) and WUBR 910 AM (Baton Rouge).
Ellenberger also announced the broadcast crew for the 2013 Bulldog Football games as legendary Hall of Fame broadcaster Dave Nitz returns for his 39th year of calling Louisiana Tech sporting events. Nitz will once again team up with Teddy Allen, who enters his third year of providing color commentary, while LA Tech Associate AD Malcolm Butler will join the mix, taking over the sideline reporting from Max Causey.
"I am excited that Malcolm, who will also be entering his 15th year as the Voice of the Lady Techsters, is joining the football broadcast team as our new sideline reporter," Ellenberger said. "Malcolm's commitment to broadcast professionalism and his passion for Louisiana Tech Athletics make him a perfect fit for the position. Max, who did a tremendous job over the last two seasons, will be taking on a full schedule of NCAA football officiating."
Nitz and Butler recently finished first and second, respectively, in the state-wide broadcasting competition held by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Bennie Thornell and Ryan Kavanaugh will serve as the fourth and fifth members of the team, serving as the statistician and engineer, respectively. Thornell has been working with the LA Tech Sports Network for the past 24 years while Kavanaugh enters his second season.
Each week's Bulldog broadcast will include a one-hour pregame show and a 30-minute postgame show, complete with interviews with Holtz.
Fans can also access the broadcasts through a subscription to LA Tech All-Access. For only $9.95 per month or $79.95 for the year, fans can access any audio/video via LATechSports.com which includes audio and video for all home sporting events (minus TV games) for football, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball and tennis and audio-only for road football, basketball and selected baseball.
Starting this year, fans can also choose to purchase the C-USA Digital Network subscription for $14.95 per month or $119.95 per year which includes all of the above content as well as audio and video for all road C-USA games along with additional video content throughout the year.
