Bulldogs Work on Overtime
RUSTON – Louisiana Tech head coach Jack Bicknell put his team through a 100-minute practice session Thursday night at the Jim Mize Track and Field Complex.
During the workout, Bicknell and his coaching staff worked on goal-line and overtime situations.
“We’ve spent a ton of time on situational things this fall,” Bicknell said. “Coach (Pete) Carmichael loves situational practices whether it’s in skelley or team. It’s good for us. You want the players to feel like they are prepared for any situation they may face during the season.”
During the final 15 minutes of practice, Tech worked on overtime with the first team offense competing against the first team defense and the second team offense competing against the second team defense.
Junior quarterback Zac Champion tossed a 10-yard touchdown to freshman tailback Daniel Porter in the first possession of overtime but kicker Danny Horwedel was wide on the extra point.
Red-shirt freshman Michael Mosley then tossed a 25-yard scoring strike to Bryan Carroll in the corner of the endzone and Brad Oestriecher made the extra point for the “win”.
Bicknell said the Bulldogs would practice twice on Friday with 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. sessions scheduled. Bicknell also said Saturday’s intra-squad scrimmage has been moved up to 8:30 a.m.
