Tech Begins Nebraska Preparations
RUSTON – Louisiana Tech used part of Wednesday night’s practice to begin preparing for its season opener against Nebraska as head coach Jack Bicknell said he was relatively pleased with what he saw from his team.
Bicknell, whose team will be opening up against a Top 25 team for the fourth time in his eight seasons, used the morning session to work mainly on special teams and the evening session to work on Nebraska game-planning as well as two-minute situations.
“We basically began working on Nebraska tonight,” Bicknell said. “I thought overall today went well. I thought the guys worked hard. We just have to cut down on mental mistakes on both sides of the ball.”
Bicknell was visibly upset with his team during the end of Wednesday night’s practice when some defensive holding penalties during two-minute drills extended drives, and ultimately cost the defense.
“These guys have to understand that we know what we are talking about,” Bicknell said. “We’ve seen games lost because of stupid mistakes like that which keep drives alive for the other team.”
Tech will continue workouts Thursday night at 6:45 p.m.
