Tech to Honor Babineaux in 2004

RUSTON - Shannon Babineaux was the model student-athlete during his days with the Louisiana Tech football program.

The Breaux Bridge, La., native not only had an outstanding work ethic and attitude on the field but No. 75 was truly loved by all of his Bulldog teammates and anyone who knew him off the field.

Shannon lettered at Louisiana Tech during the late 1990s and was a member of the 1999 squad that defeated Alabama and earned the program's first ever Associated Press Top 25 ranking. He also served as a student assistant on the 2001 Western Athletic Conference title team that played Clemson in the Humanitarian Bowl.

This past May, Shannon past away following an unfortunate accident.

In remembrance of Shannon, the 2004 Louisiana Tech players will wear No. 75 stickers on their helmets during the season.

Shannon's wife Jessica, infant son Caleb and parents Larry and Ginger Babineaux will all serve as honorary captains for the Bulldogs for the season opener against Nevada on Sept. 6.
