RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech is adding BYU to its 2011 and 2012 schedules as a part of the Western Athletic Conference's scheduling agreement with BYU. Louisiana Tech will host BYU in 2011 and will travel to Provo, Utah in 2012.

The meeting in 2011 will be the first game between the two schools.

"We look forward to our series with BYU," Louisiana Tech Athletics Director Bruce Van De Velde said. "Playing a program with a rich history and tradition like BYU will continue to enhance the national profile of Louisiana Tech."

Louisiana Tech has still yet to finalize its 2011 and 2012 schedules as it continues to fine tune the school's future football schedules.

"Our 2011 and 2012 schedules continue to be a work in progress with the recent changes to the collegiate landscape," Van De Velde said. "We are still committed to trying to put our program in the best position to be successful and at the same time compete against some of the nation's elite programs."

With BYU declaring that it will be an independent in the sport of football effective with the 2011 season, five WAC teams - Hawai`i, Idaho, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State and San Jose State - will provide the Cougars with five games in the 2011 season and four games in the 2012 season.

For the 2011 season, WAC schools will host two games against BYU, while three teams will travel to Provo. In 2012, BYU will play two games in WAC stadiums and host two WAC teams in Provo. Specific opponents and dates will be announced in the future.

"Adding BYU to the 2011 schedule adds another great date to watch the Bulldogs play in person within the Louisiana Tech footprint," added Van De Velde. "With home games like Houston and Hawai'i already on our schedule, Tech's 2011 season will be another year of great games that our fans and alumni can easily attend. Sonny Dykes is putting a winning team on the field and we're putting together a schedule that is second to none."
