LA Tech Set to Host SEC foe Mississippi State Saturday
Sept. 8, 2017
RUSTON, La. - It has been nine years since Louisiana Tech hosted an SEC team at Joe Aillet, but that streak will be broken Saturday night when the Bulldogs from Ruston hosts the Mississippi State Bulldogs in a nationally-televised affair.
The game is set to kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT Saturday and will air on CBS Sports Network with Carter Blackburn (play-by-play), Aaron Taylor (analysis) and Jenny Dell (sideline) calling all the action from Joe Aillet Stadium.
"This week is going to be a great challenge for us as a football team," head coach Skip Holtz said. "An SEC team coming into Ruston I know is not an event that happens every year, so it is one we are really excited about and having the opportunity to host such a talented football team with such a great reputation. We are excited to play them here and excited for the opportunity and challenge ahead of us. I know it is going to take a much greater effort than what we put forward in the opening game, but I think we will have our players' attention and hopefully we can have a great week of practice and get ready for an unbelievable game this weekend."
Louisiana Tech enters Saturday's game 1-0 on the season after a season-opening 52-24 victory over Northwestern State last week in Ruston. In that game, senior Jarred Craft scored three touchdowns, including a pair of fourth quarter scores, to lead Louisiana Tech to a 28-point victory over Northwestern State before 24,002 fans at Joe Aillet Stadium. Mississippi State travels to Ruston with an identical 1-0 record in 2017 after knocking off Charleston Southern, 49-0, last weekend in Starkville.
This weekend's promotions include the Loyal Blue Out sponsored by Origin Bank as 3,000 loyal blue out rally towels will be given away to the first fans into the stadium. Both the Bulldog and Lady Techster basketball teams will be introduced during the game while fireworks are part of the halftime show.
Single-game tickets are still on sale as Tech officials are preparing for a possible sellout. Tickets can be purchased online at LATechSports.com or by calling the LA Tech Ticket Office at 318-257-3631. Fans are encouraged to buy their tickets in advance of the game.
The ticket booths on both the east and west sides of Joe Aillet Stadium will open Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Gates to the stadium open at 5 p.m.
The City of Ruston will once again offer the "Tech Trolley" service this weekend. Using iShuttle Transportation Service, the "Tech Trolley" will run continuously from the Trolley Stop in Railroad Park on Vienna Street in downtown Ruston to the Davison Athletics Complex. Signage showing the pickup and drop-off locations will be available on game days.
The "Tech Trolley" will begin running at 1:30 p.m. and will run up to one hour after the game ends. Fans can download the iShuttle Corporate app and utilize the password ruston to track the trolley in route.
The "Tech Trolley" is a quick easy way to avoid the game day hassle of parking and will take priority over all other traffic in route to Joe Aillet Stadium.
