RUSTON - Coming off two highly successful seasons and with the anticipation of joining Conference USA and the excitement surrounding veteran coach Skip Holtz on the Bulldog sideline, the Louisiana Tech Athletics Department announced today that it set a new season ticket record.
Through sales of Monday, the LA Tech Ticket Office reported a total season ticket number of 6,555, which surpasses last year's record of 6,411. This is even more impressive since this year's season ticket package didn't include a marque Texas A&M-type home game like last year's contest against the Aggies in Shreveport.
"This is a huge testament to the ongoing success of the football program as well as the unconditional support of our fans," said Tech Athletics Director Tommy McClelland. "We are truly building something special here at LA Tech. More and more people are deciding to invest in building a national program."
Tech is coming off a 2012 season that saw the Bulldogs earn the program's highest national ranking ever while averaging a record 22,918 fans at the five home Ruston games.
Season tickets are still available for sale through the Ticket Office, which also began a new 3-for-33 ticket promotion this week. The 3-for-33 promotion allows fans to select or buy single game tickets for three of the next four home Ruston games for only $33 (a savings of $27 on the normal walk-up ticket price). The promotional package includes the Nov. 23 Tulsa game and then two of the remaining three home Ruston games (customer's choice). The tickets are east side only.
The Bulldogs host Tulane in the school's inaugural Conference USA contest this Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. at Joe Aillet Stadium in the annual Community Trust Bank RED OUT game that will be televised live on Fox Sports 1. The Louisiana Tech Ticket Office will be open this week, including game-day, starting at 8:30 a.m. as fans can purchase their tickets to the game by calling 318-257-3631, emailing email@example.com or logging onto LATechSports.com.
