Bulldogs Hoping For Cajun Feast
Louisiana Tech will be looking for its first 2-0 start since 1997 Saturday as the Bulldogs play host to Louisiana-Lafayette at 6 p.m. at Joe Aillet Stadium.
The game will be televised as part of ESPNís Regional GamePlan package and will be broadcast live on Cox Sports Channel in Louisiana.
Louisiana Tech stands at 1-0 after taking a season-opening Western Athletic Conference home win over Nevada on Labor Day as junior running back Ryan Moats exploded for 257 yards and three touchdowns on the way to earning WAC and Louisiana Sports Writers Association Player of the Week accolades.
The Raginí Cajuns also stand at 1-0 after taking a 14-7 home win over Northwestern State last Saturday.
Louisiana Tech leads Louisiana-Lafayette 45-33-6 in an in-state series rivalry that is over 90 years old. Tech has won five straight over the Cajuns, outscoring Louisiana-Lafayette 263-86 and averaging 52.6 points per game during that five-game stretch.
The teams met last season in Lafayette, where the Bulldogs rolled to a 34-3 win over the Cajuns.
Junior quarterback Donald Allen will make his first career start for the Bulldogs after hitting on 5-for-8 passes for 101 yards last week in the win over Nevada.
Fellow junior Matt Kubik started behind center for Tech against Nevada, hitting on 3-of-8 attempts for 48 yards. Kubik is expected to see action again this week against ULL.
The Bulldogs are hoping for a repeat defensive performance after totaling nine quarterback sacks while allowing Nevada only seven yards on the ground last week.
