Red Out Set for Hawaii Game
Sept. 23, 2009
RUSTON - One lucky Louisiana Tech student will win $1,000 in cash when the Bulldogs host Hawaii on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. in a nationally televised game on ESPN2 at Joe Aillet Stadium.
The LA Tech Athletic Department is holding a"$1,000 Red Out Student Sweepstakes" as every current Tech student who attends the game and wears red is eligible to win the cash prize which will be given away at halftime of the game.
As part of the promotions for the game - it will be the first nationally televised mid-week football game ever played in Ruston - all fans are being encouraged to wear red as the Bulldogs will be sporting their red jerseys.
"Our student participation in last week's game was phenomenal, and this promotion is our way of saying thank you from the athletic department," said Tech head coach Derek Dooley.
"The entire nation will have their eyes focused on Joe Aillet Stadium for this game, and this is our opportunity to show our spirit and passion for Louisiana Tech University. I hope all of our students will wear their red with pride and cheer the Dawgs on to victory."
More than 2,000 official Red Out t-shirts will be given away to Louisiana Tech students at Tuesday night's pep rally at the Thomas Assembly Center as well as at the gates to Joe Aillet Stadium on gameday.
In order to win the $1,000 prize, Tech students must be in attendance (must be in the gates by kickoff) and must be wearing red.
The Tech Athletic Department also announced that starting with the Hawaii game, all three of the gates on the East Side of the stadium will now be scanning student IDs in order to expedite entrance into the facility.
