Cameron, Mitchum, Patton Honored After Louisiana Tech's 52-24 Win at Illinois

Sept. 24, 2012

RUSTON, La. - After Louisiana Tech’s 52-24 win at Illinois, Louisiana Tech quarterback Colby Cameron, linebacker Antonio Mitchum and wide receiver Quinton Patton all received weekly awards from various organizations.

The Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, has named Cameron one of nine quarterbacks as its “Stars of the Week.” College football fans can now go to the Allstate Sugar Bowl Facebook page to vote for what they think was the best performance from this past weekend. When voting closes on Thursday at 11 a.m. (Central), the top vote-getter will be announced as the Manning Award Player of the Week.

Cameron was 15-for-22 for 284 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in the big win over the Big Ten opponent. Fans can vote for the Bulldog QB HERE.

Mitchum, a senior from North Myrtle Beach, S.C. (Georgia Military College), was honored by the WAC office as he had 10 tackles (8 solo), including two for a loss of 18 yards and a sack for a loss of 12 yards, in Louisiana Tech’s 52-24 win at Illinois.  He also forced one fumble and recovered two fumbles including one for a touchdown following a punt to give the Bulldogs a 42-17 lead in the third quarter.

Patton caught six passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns including a 78-yard touchdown catch as Patton and the Bulldogs torched Illinois, 52-24, Saturday evening in Champaign, Ill. A Biletnikoff Award nominee, Patton scored on consecutive possessions to put the game out of reach. Patton’s four touchdowns this season have helped Louisiana Tech remain the only team in the nation that has scored 50 or more points in all of its games this year while the senior is averaging 18.8 yards per catch and 106.3 yards per game.
