RUSTON - Homecoming 2013 is right around the corner at Louisiana Tech as there are plenty of events planned surrounding this annual weekend where alums and fans return to campus to celebrate their university's rich tradition.
Homecoming 2013 will be highlighted by the Bulldogs hosting Conference USA foe North Texas on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 2:30 p.m. at Joe Aillet Stadium.
In addition to the match-up on the field, the pregame festivities include tailgating as well as the singing of the national anthem by former LA Tech football player and current country music star Trace Adkins. Halftime will include the presentation of the homecoming court and the crowning of the homecoming queen. There will be plenty of other events surrounding the weekend so log onto LATech.edu for a full listing of activities.
It will be Scout Day at Joe Aillet Stadium as all boy and girl scouts are invited to attend the game. For only $10 per participant, scouts will receive admission to the game, an exclusive LA Tech Football scout patch, flag ceremony and admission to the post-game movie, "Remember the Titans." The Ticket Office is encouraging fans to take advantage of the new 3-for-33 ticket promotion which allows fans to select and buy single game tickets for the final three home games for only $33 (a savings of $27 on the normal ticket price). The promotional package includes games against North Texas (Oct. 19), Southern Miss (Nov. 9) and Tulsa (Nov. 23). The tickets are east side only and the deal expires Oct. 18. All fans attending the Oct. 19 homecoming game against North Texas are invited to stay following the game to watch "Remember the Titans" on Dawgzilla.
In addition to the football game, the Lady Techster soccer, volleyball and softball teams will all be playing home games on homecoming weekend. The Lady Techster soccer team will host UTEP on Friday at 7 p.m. and Southern Miss on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Lady Techster volleyball team will host Middle Tennessee Friday night at 7 p.m. and Southern Miss Sunday at 2 p.m. While the Lady Techster softball team will host Bossier Parish Community College Friday night at 7 p.m. and UL-Monroe Saturday morning at 10 a.m. They will also host their annual Alumni Game Sunday morning at 11 a.m.
