RUSTON - Homecoming 2013 is right around the corner at Louisiana Tech as there are plenty of events planned surrounding this weekend where alums and fans return to campus to celebrate their university's rich tradition.
Homecoming 2013 will be highlighted by the Bulldogs hosting Conference USA foe North Texas on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 2:30 p.m. at Joe Aillet Stadium.
In addition to the match-up on the field, the pregame festivities include tailgating as well as the singing of the national anthem by former LA Tech football player and current country music star Trace Adkins. The WAC champion Bulldog basketball team will be honored during the game while halftime will include the presentation of the homecoming court and the crowning of the homecoming queen.
At approximately 12:15 p.m. the Bulldog football team is scheduled to arrive from Monroe and will participate in the Walk of Pride through Tailgate Alley as Tech fans are entertained by the Tech Band of Pride.
The Lady Techster basketball team will be signing autographs for fans on the front steps of the Thomas Assembly Center from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Gates to Joe Aillet Stadium will open at 12:30 p.m. Due to increased Homeland Security mandates for athletic stadiums across the country, fans should know that all bags are subject to search on entrance into Joe Aillet Stadium.
Tech fans planning to tailgate prior to the game can plan their menu around hamburgers, sausage dogs and hot dogs as members of the Lady Techster volleyball team will begin judging around 12:30 p.m. Plaques will be awarded for the best prepared food, the best decorations and the largest group.
The Ruston Brick Kids Zone is also a big part of the pregame festivities at Joe Aillet Stadium. Located on the southeast hill outside of the Thomas Assembly Center, the Ruston Brick Kids Zone will open three hours prior to kickoff each week and will contain inflatables, games and much more.
