Big Weekend Set for @LATechSports

RUSTON – Louisiana Tech fans will have plenty of activities to choose from this weekend surrounding the Bulldog football teams important Conference USA showdown with rival Southern Miss.

Kickoff time for Saturday RED OUT game at Joe Aillet Stadium is set for 6 p.m. Fans can purchase single game tickets for the contest between the Bulldogs and the Eagles by going online to LATechSports.com/tickets or by calling the Tech Ticket Office at 318-257-3631. Ticket booths will open on gameday at 12 p.m. on both the east and west sides of the stadium and gates will open at 4:30 p.m. All fans are asked to wear red.

It’s Legends Day at Tech as all former players, coaches and support staff are invited to come back for the weekend. Members of the 1977 Southland Conference champion and Independence Bowl champion team will be in Ruston and will lead the Bulldog football team through the Walk of Price through tailgating alley at approximately 3:45 p.m. The team will be recognized during one of the first quarter breaks.

In addition to football, the Lady Techster volleyball team will be celebrating its 30th anniversary this weekend when they host Florida Atlantic Friday at 7 p.m. and FIU Sunday at 1 p.m. Admission to those C-USA matches is free.

The Lady Techster softball team will host Northwestern State Friday at 5:30 p.m. in a fall exhibition game at the Lady Techster Softball Complex. Head coach Mark Montgomery’s squad will also hold an intra-squad scrimmage Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. Admission is free to both. The Techsters will also be receiving their 2017 Conference USA championship rings during a ceremony at halftime of Saturday night’s football game.

The Bulldog baseball team will hold intra-squad scrimmages that are open to the public on Friday at 3 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. Head coach Lane Burroughs and Co. are gearing up for their Fall World Series which starts Friday, Nov. 3.

Both Louisiana Tech basketball teams will hold open practices this weekend as well with the Lady Techsters slated for a Saturday morning session starting at 9 a.m. at Scotty Robertson Memorial Gymnasium. Eric Konkol and the Bulldogs will practice Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center with the intra-squad scrimmage slated to begin around 12:15 p.m.
