LA Tech Hosts Southern Miss in C-USA West Showdown
Oct. 19, 2017
RUSTON, La. - Following last week's open date, Louisiana Tech returns to action this Saturday as the Bulldogs host Conference USA West foe Southern Miss at 6 p.m. at Joe Aillet Stadium in Ruston in what will be the program's annual "RED OUT" game.
The game is set to kick off at 6 p.m. CT Saturday, Oct. 21 and will be broadcast on STADIUM with Ron Thulin (play-by-play) and Max Starks (analysis) calling all the action from Joe Aillet Stadium in Ruston.
"This is one of our most historical rivalry games," head coach Skip Holtz said. "It is a geographical rivalry game. They are three hours away in a neighboring state. We are in the same division in the same league. Southern Miss or Louisiana Tech has won the division the last three years in a row. We understand what is on the line. I think we are all frustrated with the way we finished up two weeks ago and the way that game finished up with a range of emotions. With the frustration from how we have played [Southern Miss] the last two years, I think this football team is really excited about having the opportunity to go play."
Louisiana Tech enters the weekend with an even 3-3 overall record on the season with a 1-1 mark in Conference USA play. As for the opponent, Southern Miss is coming off a win at home over UTEP, while the Golden Eagles are 4-2 overall with a 2-1 record in league games. Southern Miss is 2-0 on the season in road games, while LA Tech enters the contest with a 2-1 record at home this season.
This weekend's promotions include the annual "RED OUT" game, a tradition that began in 2009. The Bulldogs are 5-3 in "RED OUT" games, including three straight wins since 2014. This Saturday's game also marks Legends Day at Joe Aillet Stadium as Louisiana Tech will celebrate the 1977 Bulldog Football team that claimed the Southland Conference Championship and ended the season with a record of 9-1-2, including a win over Louisville in the Independence Bowl.
Tickets can be purchased online at LATechSports.com or by calling the LA Tech Ticket Office at 318-257-3631. Fans are encouraged to buy their tickets in advance of the game.
The ticket booths on both the east and west sides of Joe Aillet Stadium will open Saturday at 12:00 p.m. Gates to the stadium open at 4:30 p.m.
The City of Ruston will once again offer the "Tech Trolley" service this weekend. Using iShuttle Transportation Service, the "Tech Trolley" will run continuously from the Trolley Stop in Railroad Park on Vienna Street in downtown Ruston to the Davison Athletics Complex. Signage showing the pickup and drop-off locations will be available on game days.
The "Tech Trolley" will begin running at 1:30 p.m. and will run up to one hour after the game ends. Fans can download the iShuttle Corporate app and utilize the password ruston to track the trolley in route.
The "Tech Trolley" is a quick easy way to avoid the game day hassle of parking and will take priority over all other traffic in route to Joe Aillet Stadium.
