LA Tech Hits the Road to Take on Rice
Oct. 26, 2017
RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech will look to get back to its winning ways this Saturday, Oct. 28 when the Bulldogs hit the road traveling to Houston to take on the Rice Owls in Conference USA action.
The game is set to kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday at Rice Stadium in Houston. The game will be streamed on FloSports.com for subscribers ($), while fans can also tune in to the radio broadcast on the LA Tech Sports Network on KXKZ-FM (107.5). Fans can also access audio from LA Tech's radio broadcast for free through the LA Tech Mobile X app or the Red Peach Media app.
Louisiana Tech enters the league matchup with a 3-4 overall record and a 1-2 mark in Conference USA play after a tough 34-27 double-overtime loss to Southern Miss last weekend at home. Rice comes into Saturday's game with a 1-6 record after facing off against a tough non-conference slate early in the year. The Owls enter the weekend with a 1-2 record in league play with a win over UTEP earlier this season.
"We have to get ready for a Rice football team that is very well-coached," head coach Skip Holtz said in his weekly press conference. "Everyone wants to look at records and say who is good and who is not, which I think is a trap for a lot of teams around the country this year. You cannot look at a record and judge a football team. When you look at them, they have the same conference record as we do right now at 1-2. I don't think we are in a position where we can overlook anybody at this point. We have to look at the mistakes we made last week, move forward and get better as a football team."
The game on Saturday will mark the 11th meeting all-time between Louisiana Tech and Rice and the sixth time that the game will be played in Houston. LA Tech leads the all-time series, 6-4, over the Owls, while the Bulldogs have won three straight over Rice. Rice holds a 3-2 advantage over LA Tech in games played in Houston. In last year's meeting, LA Tech's high-powered offense put up 61 points against the Owls, eventually winning by a score of 61-16 in Ruston.
