RUSTON – In only two short years on the Louisiana Tech campus, Lester Brown made quite a positive impression on everyone he came into contact with, including his coaches and teammates on the Bulldog football team. Brown, 23, who was killed in a traffic incident in California early Monday morning, will be honored by the Bulldog football team the rest of the season starting with this Saturday’s game at Utah State. Tech head coach Jack Bicknell said Thursday that each player would wear a No. 68 decal on their helmets honoring the former left tackle, whose tragic death earlier this week saddened the entire university campus, taking an especially hard toll on his former team. “Anytime you lose someone who you are close to, it takes an emotional toll on you,” Bicknell said. “Everyone around here loved Lester and admired him for the type of life he led and the kind of person he was. He was a wonderful young man. “We want to do something to remember him by and this is just a small way to do it. He will always be a part of the Bulldog football family.” Brown, who had earned his sociology degree from Tech in May, signed a free agent contract with the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens following the NFL Draft in May and had just recently completed a stint on the Jacksonville Jaguar’s practice squad.
