RUSTON -- Louisiana Tech running back Daniel Porter and wide receiver/return specialist Phillip Livas earned player of the week honors for both the Western Athletic Conference and the state of Louisiana following their performances in the Bulldogs 38-35 win over Fresno State Saturday.
Porter was named the offensive player of the week by the WAC and by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association after rushing for a career-high 189 yards and two touchdowns in the win. The Baton Rouge native scored on runs of 1 and 43 yards, with the latter proving to be the eventual game-winner.
Livas was named the special teams player of the week by both outlets after recording 255 all-purpose yards in the win. The Houma native recorded 94 punt return yards, 88 kickoff return yards, 50 receiving yards and 23 rushing yards in the victory while also scoring on an 81-yard punt return.
It was his second punt return for a touchdown this season, tying Larry Anderson (1977) for the single season record.
The two WAC honors give Tech a total of six POW honors this season, the most since the Bulldogs joined the conference in 2001.
