RUSTON - Following its 51-27 win over UTSA on Saturday, Louisiana Tech garnered even more national respect as the Bulldogs moved up to No. 18 in the USA Today Coaches Poll Top 25 Poll and into a tie for No. 19 in the Associated Press Poll.
Head coach Sonny Dykes Bulldogs are now 8-1 on the season - with the lone loss being a 59-57 setback against Top 15 Texas A&M - as Louisiana Tech continues to climb in the polls.
The Bulldogs moved from 23rd to 18th in the USA Today Coaches Poll following the win, marking the highest a Tech football team has ever been ranked since the program joined the Football Bowl Subdivision in 1989. Tech picked up 363 points in this week's poll and sits directly behind Texas as the Longhorns are ranked 17th with 485 points.
Tech is tied with Texas for 19th in the AP Poll as the Bulldogs and Longhorns both garnered 355 points. This marks the highest ranking by the Bulldogs ever in this poll. Nebraska is currently 18th in the country with 441 points. Tech was ranked 22nd in the AP Poll last week.
The Bulldogs should also move up in the BCS Standings this week as that poll comes out later today. Tech was 25th last week.
Dykes and Co. travel to San Marcos this week to face Texas State at 6 p.m. Saturday in a game that will be broadcast on the Longhorn Network.
